Abstract: Mainland China has a vast source of overseas students, containing not only undergraduate but also graduate students. According to the Chinese Ministry of Education, there are about 459,800 Chinese students studying oversea in 2014-of which 423,000 received private funding from their families. The number of Chinese oversea students is increasing surprisingly in recent years. A lot of previous researches identified the factors influencing to Chinese students’ intention in studying abroad. However, there has been little research involving Mainland China students in Taiwan. This study seeks to fill this gap. In this thesis, Mainland China students’ intention of studying in Taiwan was investigated. Mainland China students think that Taiwan is a special and curious place where they want to explore. 253 Mainland China students who are studying in Chinese Culture University were surveyed. Through a linear regression analysis this research finds the factors affect Mainland China students’ intention of studying in Taiwan. Economic factor, future career factor and environmental concern factor are the most important factors affecting Mainland China students’ decision to study in Taiwan. The finding also shows that an international diploma can help them obtain international job opportunities and a foreign diploma helps them get good job with high salary compared with Chinese local students. The last most important factor is the environmental concern. It is appreciated by Mainland China students to Taiwan’s nature, weather, living environment, geography between China and Taiwan, university campus, individual freedom in social media, Taiwan’s landscapes, the public social media, and well-reserved historical and cultural values are as important as Economic and career concern.
