The article attempts to show the influence of Russian culture and Russian literature in particular on the Kazakh literature and culture. The author refers to the works of Abai Kunanbaev- the most outstanding Kazakh writer and thinker in 19th century, who, as Pushkin, angrily denounced the vices, evil and injustice.
