《字說》一書為宋儒王安石所撰之字學專著，是書乃王氏深研《說文》後有所解悟，耗時六載撰成之作，其著作之用意乃期能明義析理，並正《說文》之譌舛，「以同道德之歸，一名份之守」。是書一出，因王安石用事之勢，遂行之天下，成當時學子重要之應試書籍，影響北宋科舉、學子達四十載。是書說解文字，多以會意解字義，如「水共曰洪」、「為人所令曰伶」等，因而為後世詬病、或為譏毀。然該書開創「聲符兼義」之舉，於中國文字學史上亦非全無貢獻。《宋史．藝文志．經部．小學類》著錄此書二十四卷，然因「學者所以閧然起而交詆」，遂佚而不傳，僅能由後世學子著作或雜著筆記等方得窺其樣貌。故本文擬以引據《字說》之說解甚多之《埤雅》一書為例，將《字說》之佚文一一輯出，並對其說解從《說文》、《爾雅》等文獻中作一探討，並逐一辨正，盼由其中探論王安石說字之方法、體例，另一方面亦可了解輯佚學與文字學之關係及運用。本文擬以四方面作一探析，依序略敘如下：第一、二部分，分別略述王安石生平與《字說》一書。第三部分，論述《埤雅》引《字說》者：檢索《埤雅》一書，擷摭其引《字說》之相關佚文，分條列出，以資重現並瞭解王安石之字學觀念。第四部分為結語。
Introduction of Words is the book of etymology written by Wang-Anshi. The book is the reflection of Wang-An Shi after he read Shuowen, and it takes 6 years for him to complete the book. The reason he wrote this book were to corrcet mistakes in Shuowen and realized the explanation and the motif. Take a deep look, after he finished it, this book had immediately became the leading test book for all students. With his authority, it also effected the imperial examinations of the Northern Song Dynasty for forty years. This book explains the Chinese words by using the Ideograph. Since then, it has been criticized. Therefore, the book not just only initiated the theory, sound symbolism and made a great contribution to the etymology in Chinese history. There are twenty-four chapters to be included in《Yiwenzhi of the History of Song》 It was lost and not circulated because the scholars' critics and dispute on these theories. We only find his essay from the writings of later scholars and someone's notes. According to the research in《Pi Ya》，the lost essays of《Tsu Shuo》were founded one by one in my paper. I ivestigate and identify the explanation of《Tsu Shuo》. Hoping that I could go through the froms and the methods of explaining word of Wang-Anshi. On the other hand, I could also nderstand the using and the relationship between The study of the collection and compilation of the lost writings and etymology. The research will be investigated according to the following four sections. In the first and second sections, it stated the life of Wang-An Shi in order to realize the motif of the book. In the third section, it appears the concept of the etymology of Wang-An Shi. with research in 《Pi Ya》 which were quoted 《Tsu Shuo》. In the fourth section, the conclusion is included.
