What are the interpretive features of Wang An-shih’s book "The New Meaning of the Classic of Poetry"? The interpretive features, for the most part, follow the way of traditional commentaries in Han and Tang Dynasties. For instance, when Wang An-shih interpreted "the Classic of Poetry", he followed the chronological order of those traditional commentaries instead of completely creating brand-new meanings on his own. In this article, I discuss mainly the traditional commentaries of "The New Meaning of the Classic of Poetry". The creative part of the same book will be discussed further in another article.
