Abstract: Two or more different kinds of fibers were combined to spin ply yarn and woven into fabrics. The ply yarn formed performed well, was versatile, recyclable and practical. The main characteristic of the woven fabric of hybrid stainless steel/polypropylene ply yarn is electrical. Three kinds of ply yarn were produced and used as weft yarn to fabricate three functional fabrics. The functional fabrics were put into a cross laminate. The weight percentage of the metallic fiber was only 3.54 - 4.71 wt % and the shielding effectiveness was 20 - 40 dB, indicating that the composites fabricated from the ply yarn could be used as electromagnetic shielding materials.
