The contour of a pendant drop depends on many factors, such as the cleanliness of the surface it contacts with, drop volume, drop physical and chemical properties, environmental pressure, etc. All these factors can be connected to drop contour via basic laws. The one-dimensional model of a pendant drop is one of the few mathematical models that have solid theory foundation. In this article, using experimental and numerical methods the relationship of drop contour and its influential factors is assured and the validity of drop contour measurement method is investigated. These works lays the foundation for studying the dynamic drop formation problem.
