Purpose – This study aims to explore empirically key factors associated with international students’ staying intention for job opportunities as well as perception of relative importance and satisfaction regarding those attributes for their decision making.
Design/methodology/approach – A two-stage evaluation of a staying intention in Taiwan was proposed by using a self-administered questionnaire distributed around a several universities in Taiwan from international postgraduate students’ perspectives. A total over four hundreds respondents from northern, central and southern areas were recruited. During the first stage, the data was focused on the perception of four international postgraduate groups’ comparison. Factory Analysis and One-way ANOVA were conducted. During the second stage, an importance-performance analysis was employed to evaluate and identify the major strengths and weaknesses of several stay intention attributes.
Originality/value – The contribution in this result expects in two-fold. Firstly, it demonstrates the differences of stay intention through groups’ comparison. Secondly, it may highlight the issues of international graduates into the labor market and would help the Taiwanese government administrators, policymakers and institutional management consider the concerns that affect international students’ stay intention.
