This paper mainly focuses on the sculpture art and the creative principles of the family of Pu, Hao Ming. Pu, Hao Ming, whose father was master sculptor, Pu, Tian Sheng with strong Japanese inspiration, graduated from Fine Arts Department of Chinese Culture University. His daughter, Pu, Yi Jun, is a new force in the modern art scene with a degree from Kent Institute of Art & Design. It is quite rare in Taiwan to have three sculptors across three generations within a family. As a result, Pu, Hao Ming grew up in a family with strong artistic environment and has inherited the creative genius within the family. He demonstrates meticulous trend of thoughts and unique originality; his daughter has also followed his footsteps as a rising star in the field of sculpture. I have seen many joint exhibitions and various art proposals in the public space of the Pu family and observed continuous self-challenge and progression. Besides influence of the classical realism style from his father, Pu’s unique personal style is the result of his study and training in Europe and contemporary movements plus relentless practice and training. He not only combines the essence of East and West, but also brings a new wave to the sculpture community in Taiwan. Consequently, the sculpture art of Pu family deserves further investigation and research and I have started collecting relevant information for the Pu family’s sculpture and analyze the creative history of the three artists with respect to their attachment to the land of their hometown and humanity. Hopefully the correct historical data and artifacts can be fully discussed, preserved, and as references to future studies. |
