This paper aims at discussing the conditions of female in the Bonesetter’s Daughter. The arguments comprise the relationship between mothers and daughters, the relationship between female and family, and the relations between different cultures. The power of discourse and voice are the two significant concepts penetrated within the entire paper. The researcher found that the power of voice is based on the power of discourse, in the meanwhile, people who can make “true” statements or “the truth” possess the power of discourse. Through the remembrance, the Chinese females in the American society may change their situation of self-identification and ameliorate their status of voice, especially in retrieving the power of discourse to change the statement of the prejudice of the Orientalism.
