Abstract: Political tolerance is one of main elements of democratic system. Today, Thailand is facing many political confrontations, many of them ended with violence because Thai people have less political tolerance. This means they do not respect and accept the different political ideas. As mentioned before, political tolerance is one of main parts of democracy. Without this, the democracy of the nation would be in a danger. The main factor who is playing the crucial role in promoting and maintaining the perception of democracy toward the public is media. The media in particular political television programs like political talk shows have a strong influence on people’s political point of view. Hence, it leads to this study that the researcher would like to compare similarities and differences of Thai political talk shows. Based on previous studies, they revealed that political talk show could influence audience's perception of political points of view. Also Amnesty bill is the selected topic of studying from various political shows since it has been hotly debated in Thai society and triggered the great political conflict between many groups whose political point of views are different. Studying the comparison of Thai political talk show is used content analysis to analysize content of media in deep. All contents related to the amnesty bill are collected during July - December 2013 since it was the key period of amnesty bill dispute. In this study, types of channel, owner of TV station, program’s presenting, ownership, chapter’s title, host and guest could have influence on media in presenting the perception of democracy and further affect audience political opinions. The results show that mainstream media are not similar being neutral in covering information, while alternative media are freer to present the news. To sum up, the role of the media is facilitative, supportive and consolidative. To achieve greater media effectiveness in promoting democratic ideals and governance in Thailand there is needed for more supporting from media with non-bias to present news. Moreover, it will be advantageous for Thai audience to receive more correct, neutral information from the media.
