臺灣原住民族的故事素以口傳，隨著外來勢力興盛，自己的母語卻日漸消失，是以搶救現存的原住民族文學之餘，也開始整理日治時期為數龐大的調查資料，《原語臺灣高砂族傳說集》即為其中之一。
本論文以《原語臺灣高砂族傳說集》為主，採綜合性研究。運用文獻學的方式整理並分析相關資料，為書中內容劃分文類，並討論其故事類型，證明身為語言學著作的《原語臺灣高砂族傳說集》，所收錄的故事語料，也適用於民間文學領域之研究。
本論文共分為七章：
第一章是從政治和文獻層面，探討《原語臺灣高砂族傳說集》可以研究的面向。
第二章從日本近代學術起源的角度，以及小川尚義、淺井惠倫兩位作者的學術背景，討論《原語臺灣高砂族傳說集》的成書過程。
第三章仿照中國古代釋例學的方法，來探討《原語臺灣高砂族傳說集》全書的體例和主體架構．是關於《原語》自身結構的研究。
第四章則取中文和日文的詞彙語法、文化語境，比較各譯本和原書，以及各譯本之間的差異。
第五章以常見的神話、傳說、民間故事等民間敘事類別，全面分析所有的故事，證明《原語臺灣高砂族傳說集》具有文學性。
第六章用AT分類的故事類型分析法，重點式的辨析類型故事。
第七章為結論。歸納對《原語臺灣高砂族傳說集》的觀察，可知此書裡臺灣原住民族的口語資料，亦具民間文學的研究價值。
Stories of the Formosan native tribes are often conveyed by speaking. Because the influence of other countries, the first language of the Formosan native tribes has disappeared at time goes by. Researchers save their literature, and organize many materials that Japanese government researched. “The Myths and Traditions of the Formosan Native Tribes” is one of these materials.

In this thesis, it has seven chapters:
The first chapter is a discussion about the research way of “The Myths and Traditions of the Formosan Native Tribes” from the political and literature aspects.
The second chapter is showing the formation process of “The Myths and Traditions of the Formosan Native Tribes” from the development of Japanese academic area and study background of the authors.
The third chapter is about the whole structure. Using Chinese interpretation knowledge to describe the chapters and rules of “The Myths and Traditions of the Formosan Native Tribes”.
The fourth chapter is a translation studies contrasting to four Chinese translation.
The fifth chapter is an analysis about all stories of “The Myths and Traditions of the Formosan Native Tribes” by myths, tradition, and folktales.
The sixth chapter is an analysis about the stories of “The Myths and Traditions of the Formosan Native Tribes” by type of folktale.
The seventh chapter is the conclusion. To organize and explain the findings of the “The Myths and Traditions of the Formosan Native Tribes”.
