The department of Dance at Taiwan Woman’s College of Arts and Technology was established in 1971. It is the only college that served a dance center in southern Taiwan. Moreover, it plays a significant role of raising the talented persons in the field of dance in this district. Under the impact of educational reform guided by the Ministry of education, however, many privately established colleges have had to confront the shortage of recruitment. The four-year college’s Department of Dance therefore evolved into the Department of Recreational Dance in 2005. It has simultaneously been facing the challenge of the trend. As a consequence, the transformation seems essential, and it needs to formulate a substantial transformation strategy regarding within limited resources as soon as possible.
This research is a case study aiming at revealing the current problem of the Department of Dance at Taiwan Woman’s College of Arts and Technology. It also analyzes the vein of the transformation and provides a meticulous and diverse research as a proposal for its transformation strategy and blueprint. I expect this research will greatly help establish an innovative transformation, and a long-lasting development as well for the Department of Dance at Taiwan Woman’s College of Arts and Technology.
