The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in anticipation and precue availability among basketball players with different skill and the offensive positions. Participants were 60 male college players recruited from College Club Division Ⅰand Division Ⅱ basketball varsity. They were further classified as four groups, skill-excellent, skill-general, position-front and position-center.
In front of camera, each player was recorded as four different phases. From preparing of the ball capture posture to the ball was touched by his hands was recorded as phase one, from preparing of ball capture posture to making a move was recorded as phase two, from preparing of the ball capture posture to 50 mini seconds behind making a move was recorded as phase three and from preparing of the ball capture posture to 100 mini seconds behind making a move was recorded as phase four. After recording, playing each taps which were masked off time stamps with four different phases to the participants of testing who should choose attacking model among provided models from questionnaire. We used tow independent random variables to make statistics. Results were found that :
First, the skill-excellent and position-front group had better anticipated ability on attack model of competitors by using front clue than the other two groups players did. The skill-excellent and position-front group players had little front clue shown to their competitors when attacked. The reason could be a fine and regular training they had been through, so when attacked they have better front clue performance than others. The responsibilities of the front group players are normally higher than the others, because their major job is on moving and passing ball. That’s why they should own better anticipated ability and front clue performance.
