“Blending” is a specialized polymer acquired by mixing two or more than two high polymer compounds in their molecular phases; the way to mix different compounds may be through either physical or chemical manners. The blending system is an injected multi-compounds system, which has complicated and inconsistent layers. Thus, how to precisely control the various layers throughout the forming process and to expand the potential function from different polymers would be the most important issues of high polymer forming study.
ABS and PMMA are the two most common engineering plastics in daily lives. Clear PMMA is well known for its strength and degree of hardness; while ABS has nice impact strength and malleability. Presumably through mixing the above two polymers, we should be able to acquire a “blending” which has the merits of both materials. Our results indeed support that the strength of ABS/PMMA blending the amount of PMMA mixed, while an opposite trend is observed for the tenacity, the blending also shows improved surface strength in presence of PMMA.
During injection molding, if material is pre-melted and grounded, it wills has better performance on forming and flowing compared to the material without pre-melting. Further, the pre-melted material will be better homogenized than those without melting pre-treatment.
To use the pre-melted material would enable us to have better and consistent quality, however, the pre-melted material will not be an option for producing smaller lots with high varieties due to fact that the pre-melting process would consume too much labor and costs.
