German musician, Johannes Brahms (1833 - 1897), was a composer with passion in traditional ethnic culture and classical spirit. Through the shift in tonality, the changes in principle and the development in theme, it is overt how classical music has implemented in Brahms’ musical pieces.
Brahms has completed his two Rhapsodies Op. 79 in his later years. These two pieces’ structure has truly expressed his conscientious and careful personal traits, yet through the harmonious melody, it as well reveals his enthusiastic inner-self.
This study begins with exploring Brahms’ life profile and musical style, which later followed by the interpretation of his work “Rhapsody, Op. 79” . Through the in-depth interpretation, it reveals the reason why Brahms has used a more classical style to express his innermost thought. And so, when playing Brahms’ work, other than the technical skills and performing techniques, it is even more important to express the inner meaning of every single notation. |
