日常生活周遭的環境中，總是有著綻放、盛開的許多大大小小花卉植物。而這些充滿生命力的花卉植物就是最受藝術家喜愛的繪畫創作題材。在本論文中，筆者以花卉圖像在西洋繪畫中的表現意涵，以及創作型式作為撰寫主軸，藉以探討花卉圖像的畫面應用及其所呈現的「美」功效，促使觀賞者能更瞭解花卉畫的美層次和意境。由於每一種花卉植物本身都具有其「花語」獨特含意。導致藝術家喜用花來表達自我的創作感情和願望，而這也正是大多數人的信息交流方式。藝術家透過花卉與花語的融合，使其轉化為裝飾性紋樣，然花卉因受制於它所具有的花語不同意義，帶給觀賞者的感受也會有所不同。
阿爾馮斯•馬力亞•慕夏(Alfons Maria Mucha,1860-1939)，十九世紀末期的著名藝術家之一，他擅長運用花卉與女性兩對象物在畫面做一結合，尤以花卉圖案環繞在人物周圍為最，用花的特點來襯托出畫面中的柔美女性。慕夏創作中的花卉，既生動又令人驚豔，花卉的細膩造型及柔美的色彩，貼切地襯托出他作品中女人的嬌媚和生命力。而有關畫作中的那些花卉、女性與花語之間的關係和發展，是筆者將持續追尋、探討的動機，再藉由紋樣的裝飾性功效來突顯花卉植物在人們世界中的不可或缺之重要性地位。
There always have been many large and small flowers and plants bloomed in surrounding environment in daily life. And those flowers and plants full of vitality are the artists’ most favorite painting themes. In this thesis, the author takes the expression implication of the flower images in Western painting and creative types as spindle, to explore the picture application of flower images and its presented "beauty" effect, prompting viewers to better understand the gradation and mood of beautiful flower painting. Since each flower has its own unique meaning, leading artists to express themselves in creative feelings and desires with flowers, and this is the way by which most people exchange information. Artists transform the integrated flower and its meaning into a decorative pattern; however, flowers with different meanings will bring viewers the different feeling.
Alfons Maria Mucha (1860-1939), one of the leading artists of the late nineteenth century, specializes in the picture combination of two objects as flowers and women, especially the floral patterns around the characters, using floral features to set off spend bring out the soft and beautiful women in the picture, lively and stunningly; delicate flower shapes and soft colors, aptly bring out the woman's flirtatious and vitality in his work. And about flowers in paintings and the relationships and development between women and the meaning of flowers will be the motivation of the author continue to pursue and explore, and then by the effectiveness of decorative patterns to highlight the indispensable importance of flowering plants in people’s world.
