Zhang Jiucheng’s One hundred verses of Analects of Confucius is the integration of Confucianism and Buddhism, with a very strong Chan means. Although Zhang Jiucheng names these verses as songs, in fact he attaches his own verse to ancient precedents. Zhang Jiucheng’s Chan enlightenment thought experience provides a unique perspective for him to read the Analects of Confucius and other Confucian classics, also makes him to realize that Confucius method from the records of Confucius and his students’ speech. In Zhang Jiucheng’s understanding of the discussions between Confucius and his disciples are very similar to the masters’ dialogues. Zhang Jiucheng’s verses are very similar to his master Dahui Zonggao, and it proves that he has really achieved Dahui Zonggao’s teaching.
