Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the effects of a 4-week six points high intensity interval training on physiological parameters and knee flexor-extensor torque ratios in collegiate male badminton players. Method: Complete data were collected from 8 college badminton players who volunteered to participate in this study and the training was performed two times a week. Subjects completed a 4-week intervention period that consisted of performing the high intensity interval training. Subjects were measured for the mean value of aerobic and anaerobic before and after the experiment. Blood lactate, heart rates measurements were primarily taken from resting and acute after experiment. VO2max measurements were also included in this experiment and the significant level α=.05. The data was analyzed by paired t-test and Pearson product moment correlation. Results: Data showed a significant was found in blood lactate from resting and acute (p<0.05). There were no other significant differences in the heart rate and VO2max (p>.05). After the experiment. The peak torque (PT), flexor-extensor ratios (F/E ratios) and reciprocal peak torque ratios (E/E ratios and F/F ratios) were no significant (p>.05). PT of knee extensor was higher than flexor, but no significant (p>.05). The F/E ratios ranged from 74.35 to 93.22%, E/E ratios ranged from 100.75 to 107.07%, F/F ratios ranged from 101.98 to 116.40%. Conclusions: The findings indicated that based on the high intensity interval training for a 4-week period investigated, effected and significantly improved in blood lactate tolerance level, VO2max and heart rate, as well as specific sport performance for badminton players. The present study indicate that the PT, F/E ratios, E/E ratios and F/F ratios were not influenced by age and training background in the knee of the badminton players. Which may provide a guide to observe muscle imbalance which could be a factor in injury.
