精障者的人口數正在逐年成長,但其就業比例一直處於低迷的狀態。本研究的目的在於了解雇主僱用精障者前後,其對精障者的理解與就業的看法,藉以找出雇主僱用或不願意僱用精障者的因素,進而找出促進精障者就業可能途徑。
本研究採取立意與雪球抽樣,選取了五位僱用過精障者的雇主,並以採取深度訪談的方式,蒐集雇主僱用精障者的經驗,並根據訪談資料發掘出雇主對精障者就業的看法,以及對繼續僱用精障者所採取的態度。
本研究發現,雇主過往的生命經驗與所抱持的信仰價值觀(包括宗教與道德)是他們僱用精障者的關鍵。僱用的過程中,精障者雖讓雇主經歷到許多負面的情緒,但他們總是以過往的生命經驗與信仰價值觀提醒自己,去同理精障者受疾病控制的身不由己、就業對精障者的重要性,以及就業困難的處境等。雖然,有雇主不願意繼續僱用精障者,但藉由過往的生命經驗與所抱持的信仰價值觀,他們還是覺得該以自己的方式,持續幫助這群弱勢者。
最後,根據研究的結果,研究者對促進精障者就業政策與實務工作上的提出建議,還有研究者的反思與未來研究的建議。
The population of mentally ill persons rising yearly while the employment rate remains low. The aim of this study is to understand the employers’ point of view regarding mentally ill persons and their employment status. The author wished to find out the reasons for low employment rate and the possibility of improvement.
The data was collected through in-depth interview with purposive and snowball sampling. The study interviewed five employers on their experience working with mentally ill persons and their future attitude on the continuing employment The population of mentally ill persons rising yearly while the employment rate remains low. The result showed employers’ life experiences and the values of religious and ethical believes are the keys to hire the mentally ill persons. Even though negative emotions from mentally ill persons were experienced during employment, they understood certain behaviors were involuntarily, and employment opportunities are important to them. Although one employer did not show her will on hiring mentally ill person again. All five employers believed they should keep helping mentally ill persons in their own way.
Based on the result, this study gives suggestions to the policy and practice of improving the employment status of mentally ill persons. Finally, the author also gives her own reflection on the subject and recommendation for the future studies.
