Eric Ewazen(1954 - )is a distinguished American composer in contemporary music. This concerto is written for bass trombone or tuba, but the style and technique is more suitable for trombone players, so it is a great challenge for tuba players. The writer is going to interpret this concerto by tuba and the sparkle will show up because of different technique and style.
This article is divided into five chapters to analyze Eric Ewazen’s Tuba Concerto. The first chapter is an introduction to demonstrate the motivation and research methods; the second explores Eric Ewazen’s life and his writing style; chapter three is the music analysis of Eric Ewazen’s Tuba Concerto; the forth chapter shows the author’s interpretation of this concerto; final chapter is the summary of the thesis statement.
