This study explores the spiritual experience of meditators during their leisure peri-ods. Using qualitative research, this study targeted 13 meditators who have had a spiritual experience. In-depth interviews are used as the main source of information and, as a supplement, content analysis was conducted to analyze the data.
This study found that, during leisure periods, meditators felt complex spiritual ex-periences they had experienced before. The spiritual experiences can happen when meditators are in a state of inner peace and can be affected by external stimulation, such as religious beliefs, the location of the meditation and leisure activities. When medita-tors receive both internal and external stimulation, they will enter into a state with strong emotions, relaxation, enjoyment, satisfaction, and a sense of peace and joy and they will feel they are connected with the environment and the gods. Finally, meditators experience insight, health, growth and freedom. This study offers research implications and recommendations for the sake of the establishment of the future model and research direction.
