Chinese people use ABB structures in their daily lives, but those structures are not inte-grated into the elementary, intermediate and advanced levels of textbooks of Chinese as a Second Language in Taiwan. The purpose of this research was to conduct a four-week ex-periment to teach 60 ABB structures using situated cognition method with pictures, and small group discussions. The 60 common expressions were selected by a survey of native speak-ers of Chinese. The results of the pre-test, formative-tests, post-test, and follow-up test indi-cated that the input flood resulting from the situated cognition method and the corresponding output from the learners reflected their enhanced understanding and use of ABB structures. The results of the follow-up test, which took place two months after the experiment, showed that not only did the learners remember those ABB structures; they were also able to use them in the classroom as well as in their daily lives.
