論文提要內容：
自古以來儒家即倡導〝慎終追遠〞，並制定各種禮儀規範，但是隨著人民的宗教信仰而有差異，更由於人們對死亡的種種避諱與禁忌，一般人抱持著「能不碰就不碰」的心態，所以在家中有人亡故，家庭一時之間總陷入不知所措的窘境，復因極度缺乏殯葬知識，使得喪葬過程大部分由殯葬業者所掌控，任人宰割，衍生出許多社會問題。如果我們不瞭解殯葬知識，就真的只能當冤大頭了，一切照單全收，並且對往生者及其家庭未必有最好最完善的處理。
殯葬管理條例發布施行後，將殯葬禮儀服務業之經營及管理納入規範，另為建立綠色矽島，使國土充分利用，中央正積極推廣多元環保葬法。但是在台灣，這樣地狹人稠先天環境的不足，許多因為濫葬而衍生的國土利用問題日益嚴重，如何在對往生者及其家人有最適當的處理，又要兼顧土地利用與開發的經濟問題，逐漸成為政府施政的重點。
藉由本篇論文的機會，在民眾對殯葬知識欠缺，而政府急卻推廣多元環保葬法之際，要提昇殯葬文化，便需規劃正統的殯葬禮儀，因此，希望藉由非營利組織的加入，共同研發出最適國情民俗、最符時代潮流之需的喪禮禮儀。

ABSTRACT
