Unemployment has always been a major concern in China. This research aims to explore and evaluate the effects of training on the well-being of the unemployed people after their participation in the baking courses conducted by the China Training Center.
Quantitative questionnaires were used in the first stage of the research process. Adopting the “The Effects of Vocational Training for Unemployed People on Their Subjective Well-being Questionaire ” as a means, the research will regard the unemployed people in the baking courses from Grades 2009 to 2011 of the China Training Center as the parent population. By conducting purposive sampling, the researcher collected 250 valid samples for the statistics analysis. At the second stage, aided by an extensive qualitative interview, the researcher did a one-to-one interview with 10 unemployed people who had participated in the training and 5 teachers and tutors providing assistance in the research, then verified the data which was obtained from the interview with the qualitative results in the hope of completing a thorough research.
The research results are concluded as follows:
1.The satisfaction of the unemployed people with the effects of the vocational training is
above the average level.
2.The subjective well-being of the unemployed people is above the average level.
3.There’s a positive correlation of great significance between the effects of vocational training
and the participants’ subjective well-being.
4.The effects of training of unemployed people on their subjective well-being is subject to
interpretation.
According to the conclusions above, the research will propose several suggestions to vocational training authorities, vocational training organizations, unemployed people as well as follow-up researchers and so forth.
