    Abstract
The purpose of this research is to realize the influence of leisure activities towards New Taipei City junior/senior high school students by analyzing the activity participation, motivation and their family atmosphere. The research was made in academic year of 2011 with random sample of high school students. The total 800 quationnireswere issued with returns of 680 (85% ). In the 680 response, 88 is void (13%) and 592 valid (87.01%) . This research is measured by means of the“basic personal information”, “participation frequency”, “activity motivation” and “atmosphere”. The data received were analyzed with statistic method including the "basic personal information," and "leisure activities in the frequency scale," "leisure motivation scale", "family atmosphere Scale" . The data were descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation, regression and other statistical methods for analysis. So it could be understood the connection between participation, motivation and family atmosphere on teenagers’ leisure activity.
In this research, most samples have features below:
     Live with parents only.
     Junior high school students
     Female
     Petty cash sufficient
     Petty below NT$200 a week
 Parent shows respect to their children
     Parents age below 45-year-old
For the leisure activities, students usually take are facebook, twitter, Plurk, Instant message, MSN, phone game, in a trance, music, TV, ball sports…etc.
Family education influences family atmosphere. The atmosphere shows better in the family with parents treating children with respects than that with severe attitude. And also the liberal education is better than the severe education. The older the parents are, the less leisure activities teenagers participate in. The more participationit takes, the better overall motivation it shows. So the influence is predictable that activity participation towards family atmosphere. However, the more participation of killing time activity will worsen the family atmosphere. So the influence is predictable that motivation towards family atmosphere. The motivation related to ability and commitment will result in better family atmosphere.
