Lee Chiao is one of the most abundant writers of Taiwan's literary creation. His first novel published in 1959, and he continues to create until now. Not only his writing time has been more than half a century, but also he deals with the multi subject matters. The era of Li Chiao growth, there are a lot of important matters in Taiwan. He saw the vibrancy of the Taiwanese establish their own country step by step. From desert to lush, he recorded his feeling of Taiwan and Taiwanese in his creations. His creations departure from his own childhood memories, record the familiar people and things, the voice for the minority, and then extended to the care of the social state. In the literatures of Li Chiao, full of his passion and love of this world, especially the love of Taiwan, he was born and growth.
This thesis discusses Li Chiao's short stories and novels and refer others comments. The main scope of discussion is related to the local theme works in short story; In addition, the main scope of discussion of the novels is the creation of the historical material.The first chapter is the introduction. The second chapter is the study of Li Chiao’s life and proves and discusses with his related works of fiction. The objective is to construct the author's writing background. The third chapter analyzes Li Chiao’s the most important concept of writing "resistance" by in-depth reading. In order to find out the shaping process of rebel, and the rebel presented in the novel. The fourth chapter discusses the novels were written in the historical material, and combined with the "post-colonial theory”.
