Due to Opuntia ficus-indica (L.) Miller is a kind of hard seed. The seed did not uptake water easily, and lead to the failed germination. Seeds could not be successfully germinated by soaking in reverse osmosis water, 25% hydrogen peroxide, and 96% sulfuric acid. After the treatments of scarifications, scarified in the straight line near embryo and made part of the embryo exposed. Their final germination rate approached to 81.3%. The mean germination time was 6.9 days, and the day of 50% germination rate was 7.4 days. The results have shown that the straight line scarification near embryo treatment and made part of the embryo exposed is promoting the seed germination of Opuntia ficus-indica (L.) Miller.
