In the late Hart-Dynasty in China, Cheongsam and Dark-Colour clothing systems were executed concurrently; Cheongsam was used as formal dress. The early mainstream style of Cheongsam was loose so that it allowed better mobility until the early republic of China when the style was influenced by the western fashion culture. This completely changed the style and structure of Cheongsam. This report analyzes Cheongsam culture and discovers the creative elements of it in the 30's. Then those elements will be applied to contemporary fashion design in order to create a modern but yet retro sense of fashion. The design concept shows the female beauty by applying the style and pattern of Cheongsam and developing furthermore to create new possibilities.
