Abstract:	「藍染」是一種極為古老的染布方法，歷史悠久可追溯至四、五千年前中國商周時期，以種植山藍（馬藍）、木藍、蓼藍等「藍草」進行染布。台灣藍草種植於17世紀末，當時以藍靛染料發展外銷中國大陸，18世紀末藍染技術和染坊的設立，帶動台灣藍染產業的興盛，到了20世紀初期，歐洲人將發明的合成染料輸入中國，台灣山區的藍草（大青）逐漸被砍除及紡織工業的現代化，台灣藍染業逐漸衰微。近年來在一片重視文化資產與回歸傳統生命源頭的呼聲中，傳統工藝技術「藍染」因而獲得重生。傳統藍染文化存在於世界各處，應是全球共同一起維護的傳統技藝，此外，全球環保意識抬頭，在服裝印染上，天然染色亦視為最環保之做法，因此，本研究籍由探討藍染文化的背景及特色，擷取藍染布料之美轉化應用於服裝設計上，整體之概念構想、發展過程及創作成果，希望能作為一個突顯藍染文化設計的引子，共同結合現代設計的靈感，並將其文化價值和藝術風格融合於流行時尚與設計中。 "Indigo Dyeing" is a very ancient method of coloring, which has a long history back to four or five thousand years, around Chinese Shang and Zhou dynasties. At that time, people have started planting the Storobilanthes flaccidifolius Ness (Baphicacanthus cusia (Ness) Bremek), Indigofera tinctoria L, and Polygonum tinctoriium Lour to color. However, those indigo plants have been started to plant in Taiwan around 17(superscript th) century, and then, indigo began to export to Mainland China, In the end of the 18(superscript th) century, Taiwan's indigo dyeing industry was very prosperous. Yet in the early 20(superscript th) century, since the European has been brought synthetic dyes into Mainland China, Taiwan's indigo dyeing industry started on the decline. Therefore, the indigo plants have been gradually cut with the modernization of the textile industry; Taiwan's indigo dyeing industry disappeared. In recent years, an emphasis on cultural assets and return to the traditional source of the voice of life, traditional technology, "indigo dyeing" was reborn. Traditional indigo dyeing cultures exist everywhere in the world should work together to safeguard the global commons are the traditional techniques. In addition, the rise of global awareness of environmental protection in apparel fabrics, natural dyeing for the most environmentally friendly way, so this study was to explore through the stained indigo dyeing background and cultural characteristics, the capture of indigo dyeing fabrics used in the United States into clothing design, the whole idea of the concept , And the development of the creations in the hope of an indigo dyeing to highlight the cultural design of the introduction of the common combination of modem design inspired by its cultural values and artistic style into fashion and design.
