In this paper, a geno-fuzzy controller for automotive active suspension is designed for a 1/2 car model. The parameters of the fuzzy controller are tuned by genetic algorithms. The position and velocity of the car body are used as feedback signals and the accelerations arc included in the fitness function to be optimized by genetic algorithms. The simulated results indicate that the geno-fuzzy controller is superior to a conventional fuzzy controller and provides good performance in reducing the magnitude of the car body acceleration.
