Title: Making Distinctions: A Discussion of the Use of the Mother Tongue in the Foreign Language Classroom
    Authors: Phil Hawks
    Contributors: 中國文化大學
    Date: 2001-05-01
    Issue Date: 2012-05-09 10:35:38 (UTC+8)
Abstract: The use of the target language as the ideal method of communication in the language classroom has remained essentially unchanged and unchallenged for many years. However, the reasons behind the adoption of this methodology are not necessarily clear. This paper will look at the background to this accepted practice in language teaching, and attempt to see whether it has any validity.
