A mathematical model for analyzing the extraction of a solute from a mixture by a solvent through dispersed liquid membrane in batch process has been presented. The phase equilibrium between the membrane and the external continuous phases and the phase equilibrium between the membrane and the internal phases are assumed. For a very short time period, the volumes of each phases are assume constant for a very short period, then for the next short time period, the volumes of each phases are recalculated and adjusted. The calculation procedure can continue to any desired operating time. The theoretical results from this model are compared with experimental data. In general, this model gives reasonable representation of experimental data.
