This paper is addressing a preliminary multimedia application of designation and implementation for a wireless music keyboard. The music platform has used the a multimedia simulation board which consists the Altera FPGA chips, audio decoder, acoustic speaker, VGA video display and other multimedia hardware on this board. The music keyboard has used infrared sensor which are connected into the simulation platform. We have written hardware description languages VHDL and Verilog codes which are to define and implement the required functions for this music keyboard platform. The result of this system is encouraged. This keyboard worked as a basic music keyboard which generated a music notes and the key-strode will be displayed on VGA monitor. The music platform works differently than the traditional music keyboard which the player must touch the keypads physically. This music system is used infrared sensors to detect whether these keypads were pressed or not. So there is no physically touched required for this system. The system is still in the primitive stage, but it can be further expanded for a professional purpose.
