本計畫旨在探討高齡族群對科學訊息的接收分析與訊息設計研究。計畫構想源自於執行「能源國家型人才培育自由導向整合型計畫—大眾傳播媒體的教育功能:節能減碳議題的傳佈研究」的觀察,發現高齡族群因為心理與生理功能逐漸衰退老化,加上豐富的生命歷程,對於科學訊息的接收與解讀明顯異於其他族群;然而主流媒體卻又缺乏針對高齡族群製播的科學訊息。即異質性的高齡族群似乎未被視為科學傳播的目標閱聽人。事實上高齡族群是最迫切需要科學傳播關注的對象。高齡者面對急遽變遷的社會、日新月益且超乎舊有知識的科學新知,常陷入無法理解或有聽沒有懂的窘境。傳播研究有關目標閱聽人的研究及傳播效果理論,均支持高齡族群需要客製化的科學傳播訊息。本研究試圖以焦點團體座談法解析高齡族群面對科學訊息時的接收行為與認知偏好,接著以攸關高齡族群身心健康的「癌症」與「新陳代謝症候群」為科學知識的案例,進行科學訊息的內容分析、解構、設計與製作;最後將以高齡族群為目標閱聽眾,並以所製作的科學訊息,在高齡族群的實地場域進行科普傳播活動與成效評估。
The population of elderly people in our society is increasing, which makes elderly education become an important issue when media transmit scientific message to public. The main purpose of the study is to analysis and construction the scientific message which is appropriate to elderly people. The study first analyze the current medical message which concerns with cancer and metabolic syndrome, to clarify how the elderly decoding scientific message. After understanding the decoding and cognitive model of elderly, this project will try to product media message which is especially for elderly to satisfy their needs.
