    Title: 颱風與海洋溫度變化關係研究

    Abstract: 許多的颱風研究都將焦點擺放在颱風強度、活動頻率與移動路徑的變化上。本研究希望能從兩個面向來進行:①探討過去40 年,颱風生成個數在季節上的變化差異,特別是針對強烈颱風,②針對全球各大洋的颱風與海洋溫度之間的交互作用,做更進一步的研究。颱風的活動與侷地海洋的環境條件關係密切,較為溫暖的海洋(包含表層與次表層的海溫),可以提供較有利的環境條件讓颱風發展,特別是針對強烈颱風。然而,颱風的出現也會讓海洋表面出現冷卻的現象,對區域海溫產生影響,彼此之間正負回饋的交相作用,結果是否會對海溫的長期變化產生作用?是值得我們探討的。尤其是當我們在談論全球暖化現象、颱風強度不斷增強的同時,颱風是否有可能成為減緩熱帶海洋增溫的其中一個因子,我們希望能藉由這個計畫,做完整的研究。
    Previous studies focus mainly on changes in typhoon frequency, intensity and track in the past few years. In this study, we would like to focus on two issues : First, we will concentrate our attention on the seasonal cycle of typhoon occurrence in the past forty years, particularly for intense typhoons. Second, we will focus on the relationship between typhoon and ocean temperature in the all basin of the tropical ocean. Tropical cyclone activity is strongly linked to local oceanic conditions, warm sea surface temperature could provide a favorable environment for tropical cyclone development and subsurface ocean structure is also important, particularly for intense tropical cyclones and such warmer ocean might relate to global warming. However, the tropical cyclones will also induce sea surface temperature cooling and changes the spatial distribution of local sea surface temperature. How about the positive and negative feedback process to interact with tropical cyclones and ocean temperature in the tropical ocean? It should be interpreted and this is also the object of this project.
