The function of the composite fabric is maintaining warm. The main reason of warm aside from the thickness, the amount of moisture remaining in the material will also effect the wearer to feel warm or cold. Composite fabric is composes of knitting fabric and foam material. In general researches, emphasis is always on improving the foam material and knitting fabric to decrease the moisture content.
This research will study on how improve the hydrophobic properties of the adhesive between fabric and foam material. Using the properties of microcapsule to modify water repellent agent from hydrophilic to hydrophobic. It causes water repellent agent encapsulation dissolve the adhesive to decrease the total water content. The composite fabric functions become lower water content, making it dry quickly.
In this study, we use hot melt plastic as the shell, water repellent agent as the core to prepare the microcapsules encapsulated by solvent evaporation method. By changing the ratio of shell and core, the different stirring speed, and the time of cross-linking, we can find the best condition to prepare the microcapsule. The result shows the ratio of shell and core is 1:10, stirring speed at 600rpm, and cross-linking time at one hour as the best condition.
Comparing the remaining water rate test, the initial water content of the experiment group is less than control group about 73%.It shows the adhesive of experimental group enable the fabric to have lower initial water content. And the drying speed is faster than the control group to increase with time. It shows the hydrophobic of the experiment group is better, and also improves the efficiency of water evaporation. However the water content of the experiment group remains the initial water content about 50%, and comparing the control group remains about 36%.Finally the result simulates after clothing hanging for one hour, is dryer.
