新生態典範面向,呈現教師雖認同地球有其承載量(成長的限制),但在環境遭受破壞且持續惡化(生態危機)下,認為依賴人類的智慧及科技力量可解決環境問題(科技主義)。教師亦相信地球擁有豐富的資源,人類有能力改變環境以利於自身生活所需,此為主流社會典範(DSP)的『人類中心主義』思想。永續社會典範面向,有接近三分之一的教師認為當面臨各種環境重大開發案時,地方相關人士對開發案沒有否決的能力,想法偏向「中央集權」、「菁英主義」。在都會區騎腳踏車不普遍的原因,是個人環保道德不高所造成的,看法則偏向「個人道德問題」,非「整體結構」問題。近百分之四十的教師認為面臨台灣缺電問題,政府應多蓋電廠來增加供電量,有偏向「短期獲利」的看法。認為在面對國內經濟困難,政府應擴大公共支出,增加臨時工作,幫助目前陷入困境的產業,看法偏向「拓荒政策」。贊成人類文明得以『永久』持續發展之教師有『科技主義』之主張。當『經濟發展』與『環境保護』發生衝突時,此類教師看法偏向『經濟發展』。
On aspect of new ecological paradigm, most agree there exists Earth's carrying capacity (the limits to growth), however they thought, although our environment is damaged and degrading, the environment problems still could be solved by human intelligence and the power of technology. The teachers also believed human are able to change the environment to benefit human needs to live. This is the thought of anthropocentrism mentioned domain social paradigm. On the construct of sustainability social paradigm, about one third teachers agree that when encountering a large-scale development project, the local stakeholders are not able to deny the project. This thought tends to be "centralization" and "elitism". Moreover, some respondents think people live in metropolitan areas are not willing to use a bike for commuting is due to the lack of moral of environmental protection. This thought tends to emphasis "individual moral problems", instead of "integral structure". Besides, about 40% teachers think the Government of Taiwan should build more power plants to solve the power shortage. This thought tends to be "short term profitability". Finally, some respondents think when facing the domestic economic crisis, the Government should raise public expenditure in order to increase temporary job opportunities and further help the industry which struggles to survive. This thought is based on "frontier policy". Teachers who agree that Human Civilization could permanent sustaining develop assert "technocentrism". However, when there is a conflict between "economic development" and environmental protection, they tend to stand on the side of "economic development".
