Substantially, space itself is a figurative image. The significance of certain space is not limited within the idea of its concrete, material side. It also involves ideology, political economy conditions, social customs and norms, and all kinds of social structures constructed through the symbolic order of that space. Every society will construct a special concept pertaining to space. The subjectivity of an individual of that society thus functions under the restraints of the space concept, and concomitantly, the person will unwittingly accept the space order derived from the social relations. The relationships between the forms of space image and the power structure are demonstrated in the norms and codes of the space concept. In Taiwan, the breast-feed room regulations were set up by labor authority in 1976; however, the regulation has not been fully implemented. Recently, owing to the insufficient reproduction of future labor force and the awakening of feminist consciousness, Taiwan society is making progress in improving the situation. Nevertheless, the setup of bread-feed rooms is not commonly seen in business establishments. The regulations in fact connote the adjustment of space order between the labor and the management. However, in Taiwan, most enterprises are small medium size ones. The country is crowded and the land is expensive. It is time for legislation to establish the statute to fully implement breast-feed rooms in business establishments. In addition, we also need to study the multifunctional space design for the affordability of breast-feed room.
