Different color backgrounds will make the same color patch change its color appearances. This study intends to understand how background colors and patch sizes affect the visual appearances of neutral color stimulus according to the performances of the several psychophysical experiments. The test color targets include 6 background colors, 3 luminance levels of central neutral colors and 3 central neutral colors. Totally 54 kinds of test combinations are designed in the psychophysical experiments. The software system of Visual Studio 2005 is used to product test interface platform. The experimental results will be plotted at CIE u'v' chromaticity diagram to analyze the color induction effects of patch sizes and background colors.
