Previous studies on competitive sports have revealed that parental involvement can have both positive and negative effects on children. Nevertheless, even though there is a vast array of empirical research related to parental involvement, which examined parental involvement, have mainly been based on the Western culture and sports scenarios within, measurement instruments which can be used are limited. This paper serves as an initial introduction whereby the author proposed three future research directions for Parental Involvement. First, future research can extend or conduct qualitative research to expand and deepen the knowledge on the Parental Involvement concept. Second, the development and revalidation of current Parental Involvement measurements. Third, to investigate the motivation of Parental Involvement. Lastly, to validate the conceptual model of parental involvement. The results of future research may become the foundation of sports education strategies to create a better environment more suitable for the development of adolescents' competitive sports.
