In this experiment, tomato is extracted to obtain the natural colorant of its own which the polyester fabric was dyed with under the condition of pH value 6.5 by adding various mordant individually. The K/S value, relative dye-take-up rate and dyeing fastness are discussed in this article. The results show that, the higher the pH value of the lycopene extract, the greater the absorbance value. And, the largest absorbance value can be obtained when the acetone is used among the extraction solvents tested. Finally, the polyester-fabric samples dyed with the mordant ferrous sulfate can have the highest relative dye-take-up rate, and also have good rubbing fastness grade 4 and washing fastness 5.
