    Sand Dune Types and Land Utilizations along the Coast of Taoyuan Tableland

    摘要: During the last thirty years, parts of the forest shelter be1ts along the coast of Taoyuan Tableland was destroyed by human activities and air pollution of uncertain resources. That great strengthened blowing sand action and promoted sand dune migration in coastal area. Although, the region has being emerged by uplifting movement, the coast was still eroded and retreated by lacking of rift sand in longshore current.
    Coast dunes in the Taoyuan Tableland can be divided two groups, namely as: beach dunes and inland dunes. According to cross profile of beach dunes, there are three zones distinguished from berm dune, active dune and stable dune. If beach dunes divided by their outward appearance, they are different in pseudo, conic, tablelike, spheric, comblike and strip types. On the other hand, crecent dune and transverse dune are the only two types can be found in inland dunes.
    Grain size of coast dune in the Taoyuan Tableland was well sorted by longshore current and wind action. The mean of MD ф is 2.14, α ф is 0.37, α ф is -0.15 and k ф is 1.76. Tbose figures indicate that grain size of coast dune in litt1e decline to fine particle and very well size concentration in particle distribution.
    Since human activities and over-developing in the coast dunes, it distroyed the natural environment characteristic .and misusing of land, at last, it distroyed the balance of ecology system. This study provides some recommendations for related researchers follows:
    1. Operation and management to the resources of coast dunes should invite some geographers and specialists attended.
    2. Exact1y to control taking sand out of the beach and coast dunes.
    3. The forest she1ter belts along sand dunes have to proper planting make blowing sand action to stabilize.
    4. Constructive a specially office to consolidate different value strengthen by submitting.
    5. Set up a complete G.I.S. (Geography information system) database.
    6. Strengthen publicity for environmental enducation.
