摘要: | The specialized commercial street can be roughly defined as the street along which the stores, sell predominant1y one or few specific commodities. Theoretically, these specialized commercial streets provide the customers with convenience of comparison and shopping of commodities, and, thus, save time and cost for the buyers. On the other hand, due to agglomeration economies, the specialization of commercial streets means to the sellers savings of managerial and transportation costs, and convenience of exchanging informations between them. In a word, the specialization of commercial streets can maximize the landuse of a location, and, furthermore, attain the optimal interaction with minimum cost.
This thesis tried to study, from the temporal-spatial viewpoint, three types of specialized commercial streets of different backgrounds in Taipei Municipality, namely: Ta-tao Chen (Tihua Street)-wholesales of miscellaneous merchandises, fabrics, and traditional Chinese medicines; Chorng-ching South Road-bookstores; and Ay-Gwo East Road-wedding gowns and photographic salons. All of these three specialized commercial streets have their own significant differences in character and function, which can be demonstrated through the activities and their interactions of the specialized commercial streets. In addition, the shopping crowd who have the common, ubiquituous choice of comodities among them consist of another character of these specialized commercial streets. It's the purposes of this thesis to penetrate the spatial structures, the characters of commercial activities, the patterns of landuses, and the trends of future developments of the aforementioned specialized commercial streets. |
