摘要: | This thesis is intended to provide the information on the geographical circumstances, population distribution, urbanized structure, functional characteristic of Shih lin (土林), to specify its advantages and disadvantages, and to supply suggestions for its future development. The principle of studying urban geography consists in from distribution to structure, from pattern to function. Based upon this principle this thesis begins with its natural background then states its conditions in relation to humane activities.
During the past few years Shih Lin has been growing rapidly. Geographically it has indispensably become a bottleneck from Taipei to Yang-ming-shan, Pei-tou, Tamsui, Tien-mu and Wai-shuang-hsih; structurally and politically it has been put into the jurisdiction of Taipei City to share the latter's overgrowing establishments of industry, commerce, residence, culture, recreation, etc. Since Yang-ming-shan has become a scenic spot, Pei-tou a sight-seeing area, Wai-shuang-hsih an educational and cultural area, Tien-mu a residential area, it is conspicuous that Shih lin has become a site of vital importance in manifold aspects. Considering of its natural background it has warm climate, beautiful rivers and mountains and large stretches of plains. It has a great potential power for its future building-up. In this point of view, to study the natural circumstances and analyse the present conditions of Shih Lin for its future development is of great significance and under absolute necessity.
The theme of this study is, of course, aimed at analizing the geographical values of Shah lin together with its surrounding areas of Tien-mu, Yang-ming-shan, Wai-shuang-hsih, She-tze in consideration of their close interrelation in the development.
In addition, the blue-print for the future building-up of Shih ha must take the construction plan of Taipei City into consideration so as to make use of its potentiality to the utmost extent. |
