本研究旨在瞭解華語教師生涯發展階段及工作滿意度之現況及其關連。本研究之研究對象為在臺灣各所大學之附設華語中心與私人機構任教之在職華語教師,以問卷調查法進行資料蒐集,分析華語教師入行時及目前所處的生涯發展階段、瞭解華語教學產業之吸引力、描述華語教師工作滿意度現況,以及瞭解華語教師生涯發展階段、投入華語教學產業的原因與工作滿意度之間的關聯性。研究結果得到以下幾點結論:
一、華語教師女性比例極高,近年趨向年輕、未婚,且具專業科系背景,師資水準的提高有助於臺灣華語教育之興盛發展。
二、華語教師選擇入行最重要的原因為華語教師「本身對華語教學有興趣」,有極高之比例為教育輔導類者轉職,華語教師工作符合個人興趣、能力與熱忱,對華語界能付出最大之貢獻。
三、華語教師在個人心裡層面對於華語教學工作之滿意度高,認為華語教學工作充滿了專業上的挑戰,對於華語教師工作更感到肯定與認同。
四、華語教師選擇入行的原因對於工作滿意度有正向顯著的影響,其中又以「個人內在」與「工作本身」的相關性最高。
五、(一)華語教師入行時生涯發展階段與選擇入行原因並無顯著差異,職業選擇受到自身之人格特質與環境因素所影響。(二)華語教師生涯發展階段處於「建立期」者之工作滿意度高於「維持期」者,原因為高達八成以上之填答者處於「建立期」之「鞏固期」,認為華語教學工作較穩定且有保障。
The aim of this study is to display career development stages and job satisfaction of TCSL teachers and the correlation between them. The subjects for this study are teachers from Chinese language centers of universities in Taiwan and private Chinese language institutes as well. A questionnaire is employed to examine the different stages when one first joined the industry and the current stages there are in. It also allows analyses on incentives to become a TCSL teacher, job satisfaction and the correlation between career development stages, reasons to be a TCSL teacher and job satisfaction. The findings and conclusions are as follows:
1. There is a high ratio of female TCSL teachers. Also, in recent years, there is a tendency to see teachers who are younger and single and with various professional backgrounds. High qualifications of teachers are beneficial to the growth of TCSL in Taiwan.
2. The major reason behind being dedicated to TCSL is “great interest in TCSL.” There is a large proportion of teachers who originally worked in education. TCSL requires similar level of interest, ability and passion from the teachers, which can lead to greater contribution in this field.
3. The TCSL teachers have shown great satisfaction in TCSL in terms of individual inner aspects. Teachers face professional challenges and they gain a greater sense of recognition towards TCSL from overcoming them.
4. The reasons behind one choosing to become a TCSL teacher have a positive impact on job satisfaction. Among the reasons, individual inner aspects and the job aspects have the strongest correlation to job satisfaction.
5. a) No significant correlation has been found between reasons behind becoming a TCSL teacher and the stages when the subjects first stepped in to the field. The choice of career is determined by personality and environmental factors. b) Teachers who are in the “establishment stage” have greater job satisfaction than those in the “maintenance stage,” for 80% of the subjects consider themselves in the “consolidation stage” of the establishment stage and believe that a career in TCSL is more stable and reliable.
