Abstract:	埤塘此一種文化景觀（非屬自然景觀），是區域之人群、生活方式與技術、社會組織以及自然環境等因素相互作用的結果，故埤塘景觀演化過程和結果，可視爲這些因素的關係平衡與否的具體表現。所以2001秋納莉颱風的水患顯示，近年來龍潭地區隨著區域工業化及都市化的影響，埤塘系統的灌溉機能式微和水田大量消失或荒廢，已改變區域水文環境的平衡狀態。在今日社會經濟環境轉變，埤塘所有的土地資源的價值（地價），遠大於埤塘所能提供的灌溉及養殖經濟效益的情況下，未來埤塘可能隨著都市化的腳步及休閒、環保趨勢，發展成居民日常休憩、遊戲之場所，或是生態保護區、環保公園，從而調整其功能與生態面貌。綜上所述，埤塘景觀，是區域人文與自然環境各種因素機能關係作用的結果，但因它必須以一定空間的環境，與佔居其間的人類聚落爲基礎，始能進行，因而具備空間性。且各因素機能性的關係，其作用結果均能在地表上呈現物質構造物，成爲塑造區域屬性的文化景觀一埤塘。所以機能關係的變化，可自其投影於地表的結果，辨認其形態與分布，而形態分布的變化也含有機能關係變化的內涵。 Existence of irrigation ponds exhibits a cultural but not a natural landscape on Lungtang area of Taoyuan Plateau. This particular landscape is resulted from the interaction between the factors of living style, social organization, technology, and the natural environment in the area. In other words, it is a functional relationship of these factors that might construe the landscape of irrigation ponds on the Plateau. This research attempts to probe into the social landscape of irrigation ponds on the Plateau through the concept of landscape configuration and system function to find out the major factors that affect the distribution of irrigation ponds as well as their functional operation. To sum up, the landscape of irrigation ponds on Taoyuan Plateau is the result of the interacting factors between the living style, social organization, technology and the natural environment. The changes in functional relationship could be recognized by the types and the distribution of ponds, on the opposite, the changes of their types and distribution might represent the changes in functional relationship as well as the change of culture landscape in the studied region.
