Title: Chinese College Students' Listening and Speaking Problems
    Authors:
    Contributors:
    Date: 1996-05-01
    Issue Date: 2012-05-08 11:12:26 (UTC+8)

The desire to guide students from the stage of total ignorance of a foreign language to that of complete, almost native-like, proficiency in that language has always been the dream of every foreign language teacher. An instructors' qualifications, attitude or actions are the main factors which may cause students to fear learning or acquiring a foreign language-may even cause students to stop learning a language. This paper primarily discusses the first part of language skills-listening and speaking, and, secondarily, how can teachers/instructors be "good" or "superior." I personally hope that this paper can draw not only the foreign language teachers/instructors' and schools' attention on the problem of listening and speaking in Taiwan, but also all other concerned individuals.
